We have a Summer Chess Tournament just for you!
Teens, Grades 6 to 12:
Play chess, eat pizza and snacks, and have fun at the YA Chess Tournament to be held on Saturday, June 30th. There will be three age and skill levels; you could win one of the 18 trophies to be given away! Ask your librarian for an advance registration form or call Young Adult Services at 260.421.1255 for more information.
Kids, Preschool to Grade 5:
This all-day event for kids will be held on Saturday, July 7th. Kids each play 5 rounds of chess, with snacks and pizza and juice and more chess play between rounds. The day starts at 9:00 am with tournament sign-in, and ends at 3:30 with an Awards Ceremony. For more information, or to register for the tournament, call the Children’s Services department at 260.421.1220. You can also find the advance registration form here — just fill it out, print it off, and drop it off at any Allen County Public Library.
Both Chess Tournaments will be held at the Main Library in downtown Fort Wayne. We’d love to have you join us!

Parents should help their children become active to chess. First, they should be enrolled to basic lessons on chess. If they’ve learned the strategies, then join them to kids tournaments. By doing so, they will be able to develop self-confidence.
