The Island Vibe band performs their style of island grooves and variety throughout Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. From Jimmy Buffet, Zac Brown Band, country, reggae, authentic Caribbean tunes, and some good old rock & roll, there is sure to be something for everyone. Whether it’s a laid back feeling or get up and dance style that you are looking for, Island Vibe will have you saying, “I can feel it!” So come on and let the island sounds of Rod and Doug take you away. Rod is on guitar and vocals while Doug handles congas, percussion, steel drum and vocals. From the big stage at Fort Wayne’s Three Rivers Festival, the Put-in-Bay party island, to the deck in your backyard, Island Vibe will keep the party jumping and everyone feeling “irie” (Jamaican for really, really good)!

Many thanks to our Art, Music & Media Department for arranging such great musical performances at the library!  Hope to see you there!

Beatlefest-Slider-v21-640x360

BeatleFest is back, baby!  Bring the family to the Main Library on May 23, 2015 and get ready to groove.  Kill the Rabbit, Grateful Groove, Beatle 64 Lab Band, and Soft n Heavy will treat us to their favorite Beatles hits.  816 Pint & Slice will be on the Plaza offering cold drinks, delicious pizza, and snacks.  Burgers are also available.

It’s worth noting that this event could not take place without sponsorship.  Our vendors help us more than you know.  If you’d like an adult beverage while you’re relaxing on the lawn — or groovin’ in front of the stage — our vendors have you covered.  While we get the appeal of packing your own cooler — we’re librarians and frugality is our nature — we also know that this event would fall apart without sponsors.  So, yes, we really mean it when we say that all adult beverages must be purchased at the event — not brought in a cooler.

There have also been questions about whether pets are allowed at the event.  As you can see in the photo above, it can get quite crowded.  Dog-lover that I am, I would be hesitant to bring my dog to this event, unless I was planning to sit on the outskirts  — and maybe not even then.  There’s a lot of activity, a lot of people darting in and out of the crowd.  It can be a stressful scene for the family pet.  Something to keep in mind.

And finally, we ask everyone to remember that the library and its plaza is a smoke-free environment.

Now, who’s ready to pull out the hula hoop and groove to some great music this summer???  I know I am!
