What’s Happening has a new home

We’ve recently redesigned our website and all of our blogs will now be an integral part of our new site (if you haven’t checked out As You Like ItOne Book, Two Books, Old Books, New Books or Notes From the Underground, please make sure that you do!)

We will maintain this wordpress site as an archive but future posts will appear here.

Thank you for reading along with us over the years!  We hope you’ll make the move with us.

Monroeville

Would you like to create awesome scrapbook pages but you don’t have the cash or the ideas to get started? Come to the Budget Scrapbooking class at the Monroeville Branch on the third Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. to learn a new technique for your scrapbook. Bring an acid free glue-stick and a good pair of scissors and they will provide the rest. Starting with a sheet of brown, white or tan paper you will create your own page based on a chosen theme. There are pre-cut shapes and letters and a sample page. Let your imagination take it from there! If you know the theme in advance you can bring pictures and finish the page in one sitting or you can find the pictures after you make the page. Either way, you are sure to have a great time and learn something new. Call ahead for the month’s theme at 260-421-1340.

We are at the half way point of the Summer Reading Program.  If you have not had a chance to take advantage of our extra programs and staffing for the summer, there is still nearly a month to go!  Everyone from birth to 120 is welcome to participate this year.  All you have to do is read and keep track of your time reading.  We have prizes for all.

The part of the Summer Reading Program that is so exciting is the extra programs and events that take place thanks to the Foellinger Foundation, Friends of the Library and all of the staff who plan and help execute these great activities.  The creativity shown this year in these extra activities is amazing.  Check our events calendar for what is happening system wide and grab a July calendar at your local branch to see what special programs are happening daily.

HSC

Patrons who visit ACPL’s Hessen Cassel Branch this week will use an alternate side door to enter and exit the building. The cracked and worn paving stones in front of the main entry are being removed and will be replaced with stamped concrete. Work began Wednesday morning, and should be completed by the weekend, weather permitting.
